It's been years since a CD cover not only caught my attention as a work of art, but also compelled me to track down who the artist was.
So today when I saw the artwork for the new UNKLE CD "War Stories" I immediately started Googling. A quick search brought me to one of the coolest blogs I've come across in quite some time - Sleevage, a blog all about music cover art. Only a few weeks old, Sleevage aspires to be "the world’s best resource for great music artwork."
The page on Sleevage about "War Stories" is terrific. From it I learned that the cover art was done not by Futura (no surprise there) but rather by Robert Del Naja (3D) of Massive Attack.
One of the comments left was - "It’s a mini design book + a CD thrown in" After checking out Sleevage, War Stories is the first CD in six yars that I actually think I'm going to buy.
