I absolutely love the concept behind Sony's new "Minisode Network"
In a nutshell, what Sony is doing is to take all those campy tv shows from the 70's and 80's (think Charlie's Angels and Starsky and Hutch) and condense them into rapid fire, no fluff/all action three to five minute advertising supported "minisodes" that stream on demand on the web. The New York Times reported today that Sony's broadband channel is set to launch this June.
It's a brilliant idea and the perfect format for the YouTube generation of media "snackers"
It's likely that we'll see the other content owners follow Sony's lead, as its an idea that makes perfect sense for so many reasons.
For an example of a "minisode" check out (if you haven't already) "7 Minute Sopranos - A Whacked Out Refresher"
